Omaha Central Public Library
CAMPAIGN IDENTITY
WEBSITE DESIGN + BUILD
PRINT + DIGITAL DESIGN
The Omaha Public Library’s capital campaign for a new Central Library needed an identity that would complement the institution’s existing brand while maintaining its own distinct voice. The campaign materials and website were designed to drive fundraising efforts, build stakeholder support, and create meaningful ways for the community to engage with this transformative project. The visuals draw inspiration from library artifacts and data systems—handwritten marginalia, administrative-feeling typography, bookmark motifs, a file tab structure—to reflect its evolution into a dynamic center for creativity, learning, and connection.
The campaign’s visual identity balances gravitas with approachability and humanity. A monospace typeface adds a subtle nod to library cataloging systems, while handwritten annotations and highlights bring a human touch to the digital experience. Textured gradients create rich, tactile layers throughout the identity. The open book symbol, with the location marker at its center, serves as both logo and metaphor—celebrating the library as a place of discovery and reinforcing the campaign’s message that this is ‘your place’ in the community
The website draws inspiration from archival systems and architectural documentation. Interactive elements mirror the tactile experience of thumbing through books and files, while tabbed navigation, linear elements, and semi-transparent overlays echo the building’s physical design. Each secton features its own distinct color, creating an intuitive digital wayfinding system that guides visitors through project updates, artist features, and community resources.
